The Man With Two Brains (1983)

This Steve Martin vehicle gets off to a great start, with rapid-fire, non-sequitur one-liners peppered throughout each interaction, not to mention a tone that suggests a live-action cartoon more than an A-list comedy. But rather quickly, the novelty wears off and the movie becomes repetitive and tiresome, unable to be saved by any of the talented cast because its story is so minimal and its character development just about non-existent. An uncredited Sissy Spacek voices Martin’s love interest but even she can’t rescue the finished product. Overall it’s a disappointment, although it surely has a handful of worthwhile moments.
