For fans of FX’s brilliant “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” it can be a little jarring to watch “The Mick.” Granted, “Sunny” co-star and “Mick” lead Kaitlin Olson is ostensibly playing different characters on the two shows, but there are so many parallels between her character on “Sunny” and here that comparisons are inevitable. Once the viewer has adjusted though, it’s easier to see “The Mick” with clarity, and recognize it for its own strengths: Sharp writing, hilarious comedy acting, and inventive storylines that keep the viewer engaged and guessing throughout. It takes about half the season for the characters to gel together, but by the time you get there it’s such a winner that you can’t help wanting a second season as soon as possible.
