Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)

Despite the welcome return of Michael Myers to the “Halloween” series, this third sequel doesn’t have much going for it. Mind you, Danielle Harris makes a compelling heroine here, and her performance is surprisingly polished. There’s also the pretty cool ending, which circles back to the original in a neat way despite coming out of nowhere. But the rest of the movie is pretty dull and repetitive, with endless scenes of Donald Pleasance yelling at everybody and tedious stalking scenes that are pretty thoroughly devoid of  any suspense or payoff. One of the less interesting entries in the long-running franchise.

Rating: ★★ (out of 5)
