A hilarious, provocative and viciously incisive dissection of the inner workings of the Washington political set and the rampant insecurities and petty power struggles that both drive and occasionally sink it, HBO’s “Veep” is like a political version of NBC’s “The Office.” It’s got a noticeable lack of likable characters, but each performer tackles their respective, unsavory character with aplomb and a complete lack of vanity, led off by the venerable Julia Louis-Dreyfuss. The veteran comedic superstar has a knack for making difficult characters likable, and she was born to play her role here. Highly recommended for fans of political commentary and the prevalent absurdity that often defines the political scene.
