Jackie (2016)

To be honest I’m a bit confounded by “Jackie.” On the one hand it’s extremely well-acted, with a series of impressive long shots and compositions and an intelligent screenplay that manages to contextualize and humanize many historical political figures. On the other hand however, although it’s interesting it never seems to be going anywhere, with a fairly repetitive structure and an inaccessible central character, so while it’s all well-done I’m still not convinced it needed to be made in the first place, yet it’s cinematic strengths are undeniable.
