Christine and the Queens – Chaleur Humaine (2014)

A sort of trilingual (French, English and Italian) cross between Dragonette, La Roux and CHVRCHES, this debut album arrives fully formed from the very first song, establishing its lush, delicate yet forceful sonic landscape. Songs like “iT” and “Science Fiction” highlight the music’s playfulness, while others like “Half Ladies” and, especially, “Paradis Perdus” manage to find and extricate the softness and soul of independent pop music. Highly recommended for fans of the above bands, as well as Swedish pop star Annie.
